After what seemed like a thousand false starts with this costume I settled on this... the idea was that it is a sort of astronaut suit, loosely inspired by Pierre Cardin's space age designs from the 1960s and Oscar Schlemmer's 'Triadic ballet' costumes. I was planning on giving the costume more Schlemmer-esque form defying structure but that never quite happened, although the paper plates did sharpen up the form.
I decided to base it on a spacesuit because of their function of being protective whilst also being designed for exploration and adventure. I filled the inside of my costume with freeze-dried packets that stored memories/objects/food/people etc that I'd need to have with me if I were to go on that long dreamed of space adventure.
