Object 2 - Chair

Here are a few extracts from the '20 alternative uses for your chair' part of the brief... my chair was Le Corbusier's B306 Chaise Longue. The alternative uses here are: as a necklace, a mouth, a pet, an embrace, part of a science kit, a scarf, camera mechanism, ramp, hammock and blanket.

These are a few illustrations from the drawing trip to Gaye Parie, some from museum/gallery visits and one from an afternoon spent on the steps at Montmartre...

sign 1 - Universe

For Sign 1 we had to produce a 'patchy, idiosyncratic universe', I chose the categories of useful and useless and started with an illustration of a full jam jar as useful and an empty one as useless... while I appreciate that an empty jam jar isn't technically useless, it is if its jam you want and not a plain ol' container.

me-tea party

For this brief we covered our desk space with a surface design that spoke about ourselves. Using the summer project as a starting point I took characters who I'd like to attend my 'ultimate tea party'.... these characters included Michael Caine, Yuri Gagarin, Jon Snow, Anna Karina and some adventurers with moustaches... the final surface design also included Billie Holliday and Stephen Fry, along with other characters from my summer project.

Capsule Cabaret

This brief asked us to respond to the text 'The man on the stairs' by Miranda July, working in groups we developed and performed a cabaret that illustrated the story. The brief was split into tasks, in task 3 we had to create a visual sentence comprised of 8 images. I worked on producing the sentence in black and white using the prompt 'quicker'. I decided to work with collage due to its quick nature, i also wanted to convey the idea of each image being part of a conveyer belt, representing the cogs of the protagonists mind running through memories and fears of the man on the stairs.
The brief also required us to promote our performances and to do so i produced this poster.

Summer Project

These are a few illustrations from the Summer project, 'who i am and what i want', it asked questions about our education, hobbies, hopes, requirements and expectations etc.... these four are my responses to 'place of birth' (the boy having his ice cream stolen by seagulls... standard Brighton Pier), 'name' (i was named after Billie Holliday... there is also a reference to ol' Piper's highly regarded single 'because we want to'), 'hobbies' (fancy dress) and 'age' ( at the time being twenty so.... TWINS drinking TEA).
